GroupBC, Ordnance Survey and PCSG are delighted to announce that their innovative BIM & GIS solution, GeoConnect+, has been shortlisted for the BIM Initiative of the Year category.
The Building Awards are the construction industry’s longest running and most prestigious recognition of excellence, and allow companies across all aspects of building to have their achievements held up as an example to the sector.
Developed over 2 years of research and development in partnership with leading BIM consultants PCSG, and geospatial experts Ordnance Survey, GeoConnect+ bridges the gap between the built asset and its surrounding environment. It is a response to calls by PCSG to connect BIM information with geospatial data in a way that helps large asset owners and operators manage large, disparate estates better.
Built on GroupBC’s market-leading Common Data Environment which enables BIM Level 2 compliance, and utilising the latest UK maps from Ordnance Survey, projects and assets can be viewed on the map interface. with countless geospatial datasets overlaid, so users can understand ground conditions, surrounding natural and built environment constraints, boundaries and social-economic data about the local community and more.
This data has always been available, but only after expensive surveys and site reports, or locked behind corporate firewalls. GeoConnect+ saves organisations valuable time and money by unlocking this data, linking it directly to the BIM data, and making it available to any team member with web browser, enabling them to make quicker and more informed decisions.
