Top Tips: Extend the flexibility of BC CDE with web services

You can use BC Web Services to allow the integration of third party applications and the automation of common activities, such as project creation. This greatly extends the flexibility of BC CDE to suit your project’s needs.

Automation and integration with other systems

The key benefit of using BC Web Services is that they allow third party applications to securely connect to BC CDE across the Internet.

This enables the creation of solutions that could:

  • automate key or common processes in BC CDE to reduce manual overhead and increase accuracy and reliability,
  • or allow mobile clients (on phones or tablets) to connect to a BC CDE server.

For example, you could also connect an ERP financial system to BC CDE using web services to create a project collaboration area whenever the budget is approved for the project.

How does it work?

We provide a public BC Web Services API (built using REST, OAuth and HTTPS to maintain communication, authentication and security) that allows the connection, integration and development of third party applications to BC CDE.

How can I use BC Web Services?

To maintain the integrity and security of your BC CDE solution so that you can connect, authorise and develop an application for BC CDE, we will need to register your application first, and then you will need an API Key and access to the development documentation which we will provide.

If you’d like to go ahead and use BC Web Services with your BC CDE solution, or you simply want to learn more about the possibilities it provides, then tell us what you’d like to do here and we’ll get back to you.
