Dragados UK to deliver Aberdeen Harbour expansion project using BC CDE
Dragados, one of the world’s leading construction and engineering groups, are using BC CDE (Common Data Environment) from GroupBC to manage the document approval process on the £350m Aberdeen Harbour expansion project.
Documents, models and data
Dragados UK initially chose BC CDE for the bid phase, and once successfully chosen, they upgraded their BC CDE to support the construction phase, enabling them to securely manage, share and control documents, models and data.
BC CDE allows Dragados UK to upload and share documents and design drawings from the main contractor for discussions and review before they are issued to the client for approval. Document naming conventions are being applied to help reduce risk of confusion and project delays.
£1 billion a year economy boost
Work started early 2017 following several years of detailed public consultations, with the harbour set to open in 2020. It is estimated the project could boost the Scottish economy by more than £1bn a year and create up to 3,000 jobs by 2045.
Aberdeen Harbour is a world class port annually handling around 8,000 vessel arrivals and around five million tonnes of cargo, valued at approximately £1.5 billion, for a wide range of industries. The expansion will transform the port’s ability to accommodate the trend for larger vessels we are witnessing across a whole range of industries.
