GroupBC’s charitable donation went towards building a bridge over the Kiryango River in southern Rwanda. Recently completed, this bridge is now providing the nearest community, Gaysogogo, with crucial access to markets, healthcare sites and education centres.
GroupBC’s customer, Balfour Beatty, along with Mott Macdonald, headed the build, and used GroupBC’s common data environment (CDE) to manage the project information, a method the two companies successfully used for the past five builds.
Speaking on why it is important to support Bridges to Prosperity, Stuart Bell, Sales and Marketing Director from GroupBC said: “Bridges to Prosperity is living proof of how construction can radically change the lives of people in some of the world’s most isolated communities. We were delighted to be involved – through the use of our software as well as a financial donation – in the build of the Kiryango River bridge.”
GroupBC’s company-wide charitable activities are part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, which has involved dragon boat racing, pancake races, a table football tournament, a Ben Nevis climb, coffee mornings, a 5k swim and a 100-mile bike ride.
