training courses overview
BCL's trainers help to make project members confident and comfortable with the system resulting in better use and more efficient working.
We can provide a range of training solutions ranging from the entry level End User Training through to a Bespoke Training Package designed specifically to your requirements or needs. At BCL we believe in getting your hands dirty during the training and with that in mind all of our courses embrace attendee involvement. You won’t just sit back and listen to one of our trainers all day; you will be encouraged to use the system in a way that reflects your day to day tasks.
BC Services are happy to discuss the optimum combination of courses for your purposes and provide further details on content and duration.
1. End User Training
A standard training course for new users is a one-day hands-on course (max. 10 delegates per day) which is designed to ensure that trainees understand why they are using BC as well as how to perform key functions. Some of those key features include:
- Adding documents - using the Drag and Drop uploader, via the web interface or from predefined document templates
- Assigning metadata from the project-defined options to newly created documents, either individually or in bulk
- Editing documents - concentrating on the Save from Windows feature and the benefits of the File Monitor but also revising documents manually
- Changing the structure to introduce new folders or moving documents between locations
- Harnessing BC's powerful search engine
- Issuing documents to named recipients with pre-defined tasks (RFI, for approval etc)
- Locating and responding to tasks which have been assigned to you
- Viewing and commenting on documents and drawings using the integrated viewer
- Using the online discussion tool
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at anyone who is likely to need to use BC as part of their job. This often means that a company does not have to send every single user on training. We often encourage Organisations using to instigate an internal 'pyramid' support structure where key users assist other users in problem-solving and getting the best out of BC.
The duration for this course is 1 day. However, if required, we are able to separate the standard agenda and run 2 half day sessions. This would mean if you wanted a staff member to learn about document management but not issuing they would not need to attend the second part of the day.
The course includes all the core elements of the system which are likely to be required by regular users. Click here for a complete agenda.

2. Project Administrator Training
Further training for those in charge of administering project areas is recommended. The Project Administrator course (max. 5 delegates per day) covers:
- Creating projects - adding new project workspaces, using pre-defined project templates and metadata definitions
- Defining templates for the creation of new projects and for standard cross-project documents
- Assigning companies to a workspace to allow the project participants to be identified
- Controlling project membership
- Configuring access rights for project members - to restrict what changes they are permitted to make in different areas within the project
- Searching and defining reports which may be preconfigured to run regularly
- Setting up distribution lists to allow for easy and simple recipient selection when issuing
- Configuring issuing constraints to ensure specific options are available to users when issuing documents
Who should attend?
We would strongly recommend only sending those users who are responsible for administering the project areas. The users need a strong understanding of BC before attending this course. Click here for a complete agenda.

3. User Administrator Training
For those users tasked with the responsibility of ensuring all users can access BC as required (max. 5 delegates per day). The course covers:
- Searching for and creating new BC users
- Understanding and defining user attributes like email addresses for notifications
- Setting up Companies and assigning new users to those companies
- Generating workspace templates allowing you to reuse a pre-defined project structure
- Creating new document templates that can be used by all users
- Making the best use of the administrator reports that have been pre-configured
This course can be combined with the project administrator training and provided over 1 day.
Who should attend?
This course is only attended by those users who are either already project administrators or will be following training. This is not a course to attend if you have not used BC before.

5. Bespoke Training Programmes
If you need to roll out your system to thousands of users, we can devise a bespoke training programme to ensure your training costs don't escalate over time.
This could include:
- Train the Trainer
Pass on our knowledge and skill to your internal trainers
- Animated Walkthroughs
We can design animated walkthroughs delivering on-demand e-tutorials that supplement traditional training sessions.
These Flash-based training manuals are devised as both refreshers for trained users and self-training manuals for basic users who
feel confident enough to use the system after watching them rather than wishing to enrol on a traditional training course.
