Project extranets encourage collaboration across teams, helping them to manage the multitude of documents, drawings and other information produced throughout a project's lifecycle.

So what's different about BC?

Driving the project forwards
Whereas some extranets are no more than online document repositories, BC drives the project forward. When documents are sent or 'issued' towards specific project members, tasks can be set such as requests for drawing reviews, documents sent for approval, or requests for information, no matter whether you're using a pc, mac or pda.

Dashboards throughout the extranet highlight the urgency of these tasks, across a single / multiple project and even across company, both for the recipients and the originator. Using BC 5.1 documents and tasks can also be shared with people outside your project, without the need for additional licences, simply by using their email address, whilst maintaining all the benefits of a single, central, audited extranet.

Encouraging team working
Extranets typically operate on an individual basis. In BC, users can be associated with companies when they are added to the system. When added to a project, they can also be assigned specific roles, ensuring that documents are sent to the correct team member. Project members can view project and company tasks and volunteer to complete colleagues' outstanding actions, removing a major barrier to workflow which exists within individual-based systems.

Provides total control
A central document repository with version control and full audit history on every file is created reducing errors and cutting administration time spent searching for the latest master documents. Advanced document management functionality monitiors files downloaded to hard drives and checks for any changes on the system. Documents can be stored in a traditional folder-based hierarchy or as document collections, categorised by metadata or 'tags' rather than folder location.

Drawings and documents can be viewed by integration with Brava! (infograph.com), providing superb facilities for both multi-format file viewing and online mark-up tools without the need for specialist software such as AutoCAD. BC 5.1 has been designed to make responding to document tasks or commenting on drawings an easy process by providing concurrent access to previous responses and document versions.
