BC was selected in 2002 as the Enterprise solution at the heart of Costain's IT strategy, designed to support its IBP programme (Implementing Best Practice). After a major review of business processes, Costain recognised that there was a greater need to share information and for a more consistent approach to the business.

In addition, BCL has a large AEC customer base and really understands the issues within the construction industry, reducing the learning curve.  ”

Financial considerations also played a part in the selection process. Business Collaborator's transparent pricing was an initial attraction and the company was able to demonstrate low costs of ownership over both two and five years, together with low costs of support. The opportunity to generate licence revenue was an added attraction contributing to a significantly lower cost/risk assessment against competing vendors.
